Mardi Gras King Cakes are a beloved tradition in New Orleans, which originated in France with the Gallette des Rois for King's Day, or Epiphany -- the start of the carnival season. King Cakes are enjoyed starting January 6th through Mardi Gras day. It is taboo to enjoy them outside of that period, which makes them all the more special!
